How much better is riding a school bus to school than the same number of people driving?

How much better is a certain amount of people riding a school bus to school than the same amount of people to drive? Please provide citation. Thanks.

riding a school bus uses the same amount of gas as 2-7 people driving, depending on what size cars they’re driving.

that is, if you have 8 on the bus, it’s better than if they all drove a prius.
if you have 3 on the bus, it’s better than if they drove hummers.
